The BMW 5 Series took the top honour in this year's Used Car Buyer magazine's Used Car of the Year Awards to add to its Whatcar? Lifetime Achievement Award that it received earlier in 2002. In the same awards, the 5 Series was also named Best Used Executive Car where it beat both the Jaguar S-Type and the Saab 9-5.

Not to be outdone, the BMW 7 Series was confirmed as Best Used Luxury Car, again overcoming competition from Jaguar and the Audi A8.

Each vehicle was judged on merits such as residual values, levels of specification and running costs and the 5 Series excelled in all categories.
